Correct! Well, sort of. First
of all, despite all those Sunday school stories you might have read, nowhere
in the Bible does anyone get "swallowed" by a whale. In the
book of Jonah, in one section, it appears that Jonah is consumed by a "great
fish." But in another section, it appears that he has sunk to the bottom
of the sea, ie verse 3 reads: "For you had cast me
into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all
your billows and your waves passed over me."
Thus, I've counted both
"whale" and "none of the above" as "right answers,"
though the real truth being conveyed by this story is that Jonah was separated
from the presence of God by directly opposing God's will. In biblical literature,
the sea is a metaphor for the primordial "deep" out of which God created
all that is, including both sea and dry land.
